Portable Ultraviolet Water Purification
Just imagine placing water in a closed glass jar than putting it in the sun, what will happen we all know. The sun’s rays will pass through the glass. Even though this is not the preferred way it is how a portable ultraviolet water purification system functions, it does however touch on the basics. Though the water in the glass jar will become heated, it will not reach the waters boiling point which is needed to kill off any bacteria that may be present in the water. The portable ultraviolet water purification system works by making the bacteria in the water sterile so it cannot reproduce once it is in the human body.
Safe and clean drinking water is especially important and desired by most campers. Without this, consumers can become deathly ill from all of the bacteria, viruses and various protozoa that thrive in the water. With a portable ultraviolet water purification system, you can be assured that the water is safe to drink. The downside to it is that it may take time to purify the water.
Though effective, it may not be able to meet the needs of a continuous supply of water. One of the biggest things to remember about the portable ultraviolet water purifier is, they work best on filtered and clean water to kill the many forms of bacteria. It has been proven that ultraviolet light is deadly to many aquatic organisms, however, should the water not be filtered of any sediments before being exposed to the ultraviolet rays, not all the bacteria would be destroyed.
Purification Choice Should Be Based On Performance
There are a good number of emergency services that rely on these ultraviolet purification systems to provide them with safe and clean water for their various tasks and medical services. Having the services of a quality unit may take some time but it is important to find one that filters water first before going into the chamber where the ultraviolet light is passed.
There are some smaller portable ultraviolet purification systems available that operate on batteries. In some cases, they even have some that are solar powered. The portable ultraviolet filter, filters water through micron filters to remove any organic and non-organic sediment making its treatment in a drinking water purifier more effective and efficient. For the larger portable ultraviolet water purification units, there are some which are powerful enough to provide a continuous source of good clean water but only if the water is well filtered before passing through light.
The reason behind the successful and highly effective portable ultraviolet water purification unit is its shorter wavelength which cannot be seen. As expected on many units, simple maintenance such a changing the bulbs, cleaning its housing and changing filters on a regular basis is all that is needed to keep the portable ultraviolet purification system running smoothly.
